I went here for lunch for the first time today, I had the fried shrimp and catfish combo, the food was great & flavorful without it being too expensive, the employees gave it a fun, upbeat atmosphere to where they make everyone feel like they're having a great time, I plan on going back to Evangeline...
This amazing café seems hidden away in a tiny little strip area on Brodie Lane. Don't let the location or the size fool you! This is the place to go for Cajun food in South Austin and I am looking forward to the day that the music can come back! My favorite dish is the stuffed avocado.
I am a Cajun from outside Lafayette, Louisiana who lives in Austin and this restaurant does Cajun food right. The seafood gumbo is dark and on point. Numerous Abita beer options. This is as close to authentic as you will get outside of my mom's house. Highly recommend!!
Green wings! Green wings! Greeeeeeeeen WINGS! do yourself a favor. Ask for extra blue cheese, especially if you're a spice weenie like me or just because extra blue cheese is a no brainer. I miss the soft shell crab po-boy so much I can't think of a good metaphor.
Honestly this place should be a 5 star restaurant. I have no clue why it's not. The staff is amazingly sweet never had to ask for a refill on water. The food was so delicious. 10 out of 10 definitely will come back again. Also bread pudding delicious.
